Default Revised IWE?!

Needing to replace my IWE's yet again and after talking briefly with a technician, heard that the IWE's have been revised.
Old part number- 7L1Z-3C247-A
New part number 7L1Z-3C247-B

Just curious if anyone knows what difference the new part entails?

Wild non educated guess...if they sell so many of one part it might be a recall..just rename the part, no recall...mine went and I read many others have as well

The IWE actuators are not changed, the new part number only includes the 3 8mm head bolts that attach it to the knuckle and new nut to secure the axle shaft.

Hi I have a 2016 F150 lariat with the 3.5. I have 20,000 miles on mine and about a month ago started getting a slight grind noise coming from the front driver wheel. After bringing it to the Ford dealer they ordered new IWE's and also told me they were "revised" and are replacing both of them..

I like the truck... Only complaints are seems to be more unburned fuel than other engines on start up, the IWE issue, and the driver side door seal/noise. Other than that, been great!

2016? I don't think that's a real designation. Never heard of it.

I spoke to a guy who works at a parts counter at a Ford dealership in Ohio. Not sure how accurate this is, but it wouldn't surprise me: He said that the federal government has certain laws in place that restrict the ability for dealers/parts makers (not just Ford) to raise the price of certain parts. So the way the parts makers/dealers get around this is to simply change the part number.

This way they can argue that they didn't raise the price of 7L1Z-3C247-A. They just don't offer it any longer.

In turn, the "new" part # of 7L1Z-3C247-B probably also came with a newer, HIGHER price

As shady as that sounds, I'm all for lower prices, but I'm not sure I want the federal government regulating businesses like that. Imagine if you were a business owner and you heard that a law like that was passed. You'd be ticked off.

If Ford charges too much, companies like 1A-Auto, etc. will just come in and compete and make them cheaper. Or maybe people will just stop buying Fords (or GMs, or whoever keeps raising the prices of their parts exhorbitantly)
