That I understand, just seems like it be easier to climb in the bed with the pole while loading up!

yes, the pole is good leverage when you are using the step.

But that doesn't outweigh the 99% of the time that I'm loading something and having to get it over the hump where the pole is, or something gets caught in the grooves, catches the plastic when you are pulling it out of the bed, etc. PITA.

I also have to factor the chance of tripping over the bump when drinking in the bed of the truck. plus i'm not old enough to need the pole. the step is good enough. If I ever need the pole in the future i can still install it.

Only thing is this all reversible when you go to sell/trade the truck in? Will the the spray in allow for the pole cover to be reinstalled?

Good question. I have line-x and it's not too thick, it looks like it would work fine. If not, no biggy. Last few trucks I traded they didn't even look at em. Lol.

I see no issue with this. I haven't tried though.

Note to all reading this, make sure you ask ahead of time that they don't put any stickers or logos on or under your spray. My guy had no problem with this. Doesn't change the warranty

I did mention for most people it's useless. With the step, it's really easy to get into the bed unless you're 90 yrs old.

Since this was brought up again and I was at the dealer, the parts guy matched the online shipped price for the panel. They gave me the plastic tailgate cover for free. I guess it comes with the drop-in liners and they had a bunch left over. I picked up some SS sheet metal screws from Lowes. I'll probably swap it tomorrow.
