removing front bumper caps
is it possible to remove the black bumper caps on the front of our trucks? Those rectangle pieces of plastic to the sides of the license plate. I'm just curious to see if its possible to mount some lights to those. I saw on ebay that you can buy replacements for 30-40 dollars so there must be. If anyone has modded them i'd appretiate some ideas/pics. Thanks
Yes there removable but are a bitch without bending the plastic clips on the back. I'm sure you can take the front end apart to make the removal easier but I'm not sure. Unless there is a secret that I don't know about. The ones I have removed are the EcoBoost ones with the plate holder. Was replacing them with the 5.0L one so i just pulled it off without worrying about if I broke the clips or not.

Would a been nice to be able to mount a bull bar there instead of having to take off the tow hooks. I don't like the idea of having to take them off to install the bar. Now I was thinking you could mount some lights in them. I'd buy an extra set and mess around with cutting them to fit some lights in. Heck its only 30 bucks
Come to think of it I may end up mounting some front facing cameras in them and hook them up to the cheap monitor I bought. I wanted some parking assistance since you can't really tell how close you are to whatever is in front of you
thats an idea but then again i'd have to remove my license plate and i don't think thats legal. i hate the offset plates on the ecoboost so i'd have to keep it on or take it off completely.

I commend you for asking this in an existing thread (albeit 5.5 years old) instead of creating a new one.
To answer your question, yes it's really that easy. They're simply holding on with plastic tabs. If you're careful enough, you won't break them when you pull them off. If you do break them, not the end of the world as you can buy a set of them for around $30.
Just reach under and behind the front bumper, find the plastic tabs, squeeze/push them out.
