Default Reflashed PCM Reinstall

Update - Locksmith came yesterday and could not make any progress. He recommended a new PCM. Today, I installed a new $160 battery and $10 PATS Tranceiver. (Ty, 1FordTech1) Locksmith came back this afternoon and said he was able to connect to and update everything…except the PCM. Even made and programmed a 3rd key for me. Can’t speak for ignition, but it does work for the locks, dash and all accessories. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I checked the fuses and relays previously with a multimeter, but he went behind me and checked them as well. Everything checked out except for Fuse 31 (BOO-IP/BOO-ENGINE) in the BCM. Not blown, not melted, but no power. Looking into that this evening and will hopefully have a positive update by tomorrow or Monday. 🤞🏼

Update - I received the PCM and tuner along with a C.A.R.B certification. Problem with that is I do not live in CA, nor would I like a C.A.R.B certified tuner. Regardless, I left the tuner in the box and reinstalled the PCM, waited 10 minutes, turned the key to the ‘On’ position for 30 seconds and the truck started fine. Then it cut off 5 minutes later and would not start again. Sending the PCM and tuner back to Superchips. With any luck, I should get it back on Friday and try again.

Update - Received 2nd reflashed PCM back from Superchips with no change whatsoever. Sent back to Superchips to be reflashed again. (3rd time) Truck has now been down for almost 2 weeks. Will provide another update when 3rd reflashed PCM arrives.

Good thing you felt the need to mess with the factory settings, the truck was way to reliable with those.

Thank God you showed up, and such an intelligent answer, too! You went out of your way to help a newbie, addressed both concerns, and did so politely and without coming across as a told you so, know it all jerk! I bet all of your co-workers rely on you on a daily basis, and you must be a real hit at parties!

Yeah, me too. Lol. When it’s running, it runs. Just a fun truck to drive. And for what I’ve got in it, a deal, too. But this is my first time dealing with electrical issues and I’m lost. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Update - Now at day 16 of my ongoing No Crank saga, I got my reflashed PCM back for the 3rd time. First attempt - nothing. Power at dash, all gauges work, blend door actuator clicks, starter relay under the hood clicks, and then nothing. 2nd attempt - same. 3rd attempt - Cranked, started and ran for roughly 10 seconds before shutting off. Google research keeps indicating a PATS system fault. Had Superchips on the phone with me the entire time and mentioned that to them. It was the first time anyone had ever mentioned it and they had no clue what I was even referring to. They suggested it may be the BCM, but it was definitely not the PCM, never was the PCM, they were not at fault in any way, wished me luck and suggested I take it to a dealer. Going with my gut and have a locksmith otw with a Forscan to reprogram the keys and perform a PATS parameter reset. Guess we’ll see.

It used to be that when you started a Ford with Pats and the keys werent programmed or only one key it would run a short time and stall if it started at all. Make sure you have 2 keys programmed. Its possible you have an intermittent PATS transciever issue as well.
