I bought a Canadian truck too, is there a difference? I signed up at syncmyride.com and downloaded version 4.4, I haven't installed it yet but I assume it the U.S. edition. I never thought about there being to different types. I have sync basic though, maybe that makes a difference? What is applink anyway?

Yes there is a difference. From the research i have done the Canadians didn't have applink which is supposed to give you options and voice commands over some Apps like Pandora and also they couldn't do the Vehicle health report which is what i would be more interested in. I updated mine too, but since you enter the Vin number to get the update i would assume they give you the update for the country the vehicle is supposed to be in.

I was thanking the same thing. LOL

"Sync, Can you get me to Canadian Pride Lane?"

Sync: "please reply with "eh" at the end of your request"

Hey biscuit141 & overdorfF150,

There aren't many differences in the actual system; however, there are some features not obtainable in Canada. 911 Assist and AppLink are available on select models in the US and Canada. SYNC Services and Vehicle Health Report is only accessible in the US. If you would like to know what your vehicle includes specifically, shoot me a PM.

You can also find more info about AppLink here: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-...-overview.html

My truck came from Canadia as well, I spoke to Ford and was told vehicle health is not available for me as well. I am curious if that would be possible to override also!

Thanks Shaay. My truck does have 911 Assist. The Sync upgrade website told me the vehicle heath report wasn't available on my truck, I'm not too worried about that, what kind of stuff does it tell you anyway? What are SYNC services? And what apps does the AppLink control besides Pandora?

Shaay,
In my case the truck is now in my possession in Tn and is titled there. So it is essentially an american owned vehicle. This is why i want to reflash to the u.s version. I have visited the Sync Site and have found that the only thing decent about it is that it will connect to bluetooth. The Vehicle health report would be interesting and depending on what information it gave you could be useful.
