Recall FYI

The 6R80 transmissions in the 09 and '10 trucks with the 5.4 had their TCM separate from the ECM. The TCM was inside the transmission (not sure where, in the lead frame maybe?). When they went to the new engines in 2011, the TCM and ECM were combined externally into the PCM. When I loaded the 5* tune on my '09 it had to load separate information to the TCM and then to the ECM, which took about 40 minutes total. It's freaky watching the completion % creep up so slowly, thinking it had failed and bricked the computers. 2011 and newer trucks updated a lot faster due to the integration of the two modules.

The BCM revision is the same as 16s19 however, 16s19 had verbiage stating if OSS codes were set to replace the lead frame. I think they created a new recall to remove that verbiage. My dealer this morning tried to update my truck but I already had the updated BCM revision because of 16s19.

Hey guys,
So my transmission shifted into 1st today almost causing a wreck AGAIN since I ran through a red light. Truck is parked at Ford for a week until they can update my ****ing computer. They will not replace my lead frame and are recommending to drop my transmission and replace my torque converter to make $. What a load of ****.

Using this truck as an example, my question is this. What’s going to happen after they do the recall/PCM update and the lead frame/OSS continues to malfunction? Theoretically the truck won’t downshift to 1st after the update is performed but what will it do? Limp mode, neutral, hold whatever gear it’s in?

I had 2014 with a build date of 11/13 that had the lead frame issue @ 28K miles. I almost **** a brick the first few times it dropped to 1st gear @ 45mph and locked up the rear wheels.

... extending the warranty coverage on the transmission molded leadframe, which contains the OSS, under Customer Satisfaction Program 16N02. This increases the transmission molded leadframe warranty coverage to a total of 10 years or 150,000 miles from the warranty start date, whichever occurs first.
lf your vehicle's transmisslon molded leadframe requires replacement due to an OSS failure and your vehicle is within the indicated time/mileage limitations, Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace the transmission molded leadframe free of charge (parts and labor).
