Rear Window Shattered Now What
So my truck was sitting in the parking lot. I had been driving it, so it was warm, but i remote started it to keep the heater going for my family while I went inside a store. I came back in about 3 minutes, and heard the rear window pop as I was walking up. I didnt know at first what it was, but my kids where pointing at the rear window when i got it.
So what are my options? Is their a recall on this? Or anything ford will do? Its a 2012 Supercrew. 100k miles. so obviously out of warranty.
Local Ford said they have never seen it, but have heard of it. Told me to go to a local glass dealer that does all their work and will be cheaper than them. Called the Glass dealer and they said the retail on the rear window is $950 by itself. They cut me a 45% discount on the glass, and told me $650 installed. This is a rear defrost/rear sliding window. The price sounded pretty good to me honestly, I expected worse. He said he would get one overnighted and have it done by tomorrow night. Again was happy to hear I didn't have to wait until after the holidays.
What do you guys think?

Make a claim with your insurance company to get it fixed.

When the new window goes in, don't re-connect the ground wire. The heating element is borderline excessive and the glass can't handle the thermal stress. The ground wire is the one on the drivers side, leave it off. The two on the pass. side both need to be connected so the mirror heat and the indicator light works.

How's she goin' eh?
Should be bottom corner of the window. I think I disconnected the one on the passenger side. My mirrors work but the light on the console doesn’t come on.
