Default Rear Sliding Window Defroster

My rear power window defroster on my 2012 Super Crew XLT has quit working. The dealer says that the fix is a complete rear power window replacement. The window still operates as far as power open and close. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how did you rectify the situation?

Many people have that problem, or had it shatter their window, it's a pretty poor system. Do you really need it? Mine is unplugged since I never use it and I don't want the window to be trashed. The mirrors are on the same circuit and sometimes I want to defrost them.

X2 for disconnect the rear defrost. I installed a jumper wire (Basically a short piece of wire with two male or two female connectors).

Fold down the rear seat on the passenger side, pull back the wall carpet and you will see it. Disconnect It. Install jumper wire and mirrors will still defrost and light on dash lights up. No worrying about shattered windows and 100% reversible

I didn't jumper mine, and haven't had the need to use my heated mirrors yet, what exactly are you jumpering?

The circuit. Tricking the system to think its closed so the dash light and mirrors work. There is other threads about this

Simpler to unhook the ground side. On the driver side. Button light still works for the mirrors.

I did this over a year ago, in fact i think i looked it up before i bought the truck - and it turns out i did the driver's side, just unplugged and shrink wrapped - i remember that what i did should have left the mirrors working as well as the dash light... you'd think i would have checked that by now

I disconnected the passenger side at the window. No dash light but mirrors worked. I reconnected it and unplugged at the base and installed a jumper. Now it works as it should
