Default Rear End Flush

Hi Guys,

I'm the owner of a 2010 FX4

I would like to change the Oil in my rear end.

So i've bought Oil (To Ford when i was in Poland) , but on the bottle it's : 75w140 C
Will this oil be Ok for my rear end ? should i add some additive ?

I'm in France and here nobody can help.

I've got to flush the front end too, his there any additive to put in ?

Thanks for your help !

Some Ford's used to "require" a friction modifier if you flushed the rear. Why are you flushing? Most of them now are "maintenance-free" that supposedly the fluid is good for the life of the vehicle. I'm not sure I'd completely buy into that theory, but I wouldn't be changing it very often either.

I change my rear gear oil every 30k, I do alot of towing. But, if i push it much passed 30k i get rear chatter. If you have a limited slip differential, you will need friction modifier.

I know the L6 is 3.73 Electronic Locking Differential.
As for as how to change the fluid... I googled 2010 f150 fx4 diff fluid change and got many examples of how to do it...
So add a fiction modifier, I find that in my jeeps oil with fiction modifier still needs an additive (friction modifier) to stop the clacks.
correct me if I'm wrong but I think it is better to have more fiction modifier than not enough in a ELD.

You don't need friction modifier on an e locker as there are no friction clutches

Duh, my bad. It was a late post and I wasn't thinking. Must have been all the jeep diffs with ls Quadradrive/quadratraks that polluted my brain.

This is right out of a ford service manual. and it says to don't not use friction mod with ELD.

Priceless, you can also call ford toll free and ask them yourself. Better than getting advice from forums.
