I have a 4x4 with the e-locker on my 2011, my rear diff doesnt have a drain plug at the bottom. Is this special to the 2011s or are they all like that? I wanted to change my oil and get the factory crap out of there, now i have to take the whole cover off and scrape the old gasket and apply a new gasket. This sucks!

Every truck I've owned had to be drained this way. There should be good oil even from factory. Why do you want to change it?

It is sealed. I read it in the manual. But the manual also says that it is factory filled with Motorcraft synthetic gear lube.

They work well to get the oil out but it's nice to give it a good cleaning to get the filings as well. Surprising what settles on the bottom but also what sticks to the side of the case.

Actually, I do all of my own maintenance. Im 21, I've had a couple jeep rubicons that were sealed with rear lockers and lots of goodies i installed also, so i know how to change it through taking the diff covers off, my 2008 titan had a drain plug, my buddies 2008 avalanche has a drain plug, my dads dodge 2500 has a drain plug also. So guess they havent all been like that for 20 years.. ********.. I just would like to get some amsoil in there and get the factory oil and break in shavings out. Also looking at Mag-hytec diff covers i guess.

I changed my Nissan Titan's diff fluid after the first 10k miles and the magnetic drain plug had loads of metal on it!!! As far as i know the f-150 doesnt have any magnets inside to hold metal particles out of the oil. Im think the mag-hytec to buy is the 9.75", can anyone confirm this?

I had 21k miles on mine when I changed my rear diff cover to a Mag Hytec. the oil looked pretty good. Just make sure u get some Friction Modifier for your E-lockers or you will be back to the dealer with a huge bill. I used Mobil 1 gear oil. Just make sure you use the factory friction modifier even if the gear oil you buy has it already mixed in.

Will do thanks for the heads up. How much oil did it take with the mag hytec?? I know some trucks almost double capacity with it, did you use more friction modifier than normal to compensate for more oil?
