Default Rear Camera System question in a 2013 Crew Cab

Wondering if anyone has an answer to the following question:

The rear camera system provides a picture of what is behind you as well as red, yellow and green lines letting you know where the would be if you continue backing up. I happened to be driving a 2011 Explorer the other day and that backup systems looked just like mine with one exception - when you turned the wheel in reverse, an additional line(s) showed up that illustrated where the truck would go based on how the front wheels were turned. I really liked that feature.

So, does anyone know if that is available and you just turn it on, is it an upgrade or is it even possible to have it on this 2013 Crew Cab Lariat.

Thanks for the help.

I just went thru every option in the menu control for the camera and couldn't find anything that could do that. Must be something for the Explorer's system. That would be a kewl feature though. Maybe it's part of the system that self parallel parks the vehicle?

I just got my 2013 Limited and I read the manual pretty thoroughly and the only options iI saw when it comes to the camera are turning on/off the lines and square grids and the back audible sensors. It shouldn't be any different between the Lariat and the Limited.

You are probably onto something here. Maybe it's only an option on the park assist equipped vehicles.

Maybe but then again I don't know, the only Ford (commercial) I've ever seen with that feature is the Escape. Don't know if the Explorer has it or not but it would make sense.

My xlt is loaded and the camera is apparently the same as all trims.

A friend's 2006 Infinity M35 does that. It is pretty cool. It would be nice if our relatively bigger trucks had it as well. But having ANY camera at all is a HUGE bonus!

Thanks for the posts guys. Like what has been mentioned, the camera and sensors are awesome and greatly appreciated. Did not actually feel like it needed anything more than that until I saw what looked to be the same system with that turning feature - really nice and I was surprised at how accurate it was. I just had the vehicle for a day while a rock chip was being fixed on mine so I am not even sure if it had a fancy parking system or not.

Maybe someone will join this thread that has some engineering/design insight into this functionality. I would be willing to pay for such an upgrade.

So, my sister is in the market for a new Explorer Sport and in my research I found that the lines don't turn in the Explorer either unless it has the adaptive cruise control option.

Not available in my 2011. My wife's 2012 Nissan Murano does this. It does not self park or adaptive so I would not believe that is a requirement for that technology to work. I have told my wife that I wish my truck would do that but overall my 2011 is far more advanced than hers.
