Default Antenna issue on a 2013 crew cab

Wondering if anyone can help with ideas on an antenna that scrapes in the parking structure that I park in everyday. I understand that it's designed to be an antenna as well as something to notify you that your going to be too tall. The issue I have is that the antenna is about 3 inches taller than the truck and if it were an inch shorter, it would not sound like I am dragging my bumper

So, I have seen the Stubby solution on this forum that would work, wondering if anyone has cut the antenna down an inch and if that impacted the reception, or any other creative ideas you might have.

It's a new truck so I would like whatever I do to look appropriate.

Thanks and I look forward to your thoughts

i popped the ball off mine and cut about 3-4 inches off. then i tappered the end with a dremel tool, popped the ball back on, sprayed it with krylon satin black paint and it works as good as new and looks factory. also looks alot nicer then that monstosity that comes on our trucks. but not as dinky looking as some of the stubby ones that iv read mixed reviews on. i dont park in underground parking EVER.

Unscrew it from the base before you go in and put it back on after you exit the parking structure. 3/8 open end wrench.

I keep a cheapo wrench handy for car washes. Only takes 10 secs to remove and replace.

That would be a Royal PITA!!! Id just trim it a inch or two! I took two inches off mine, no more rubbing.

Royal PITA?????? Really???? Are we so lazy we won't sacrifice an entire 10 seconds to solve a problem without modifying an OEM part on our trucks?

Really?

All you need to watch is the first 37 seconds of this video

Yeah that's some real leg work there.

Gotta say I wish I had thought to take it off, mine's bent back and to the right. Not a lot but enough that I notice it and it drives me crazy. Car wash got me.

If you care about the functionality of the antenna you won't cut it.

Don't do anything - the parking structure will wear it down eventually..
Seriously, it's true the receiver is tuned to the antenna length, but I doubt you'd notice any difference in sound quality by snipping it an inch or 2.
As to removing/installing it every time you leave or come home, that would last until the first time it's raining.

When does it rain inside parking garages? You pull in, take it off, go park, enjoy your 8 hr day at work or what ever, and drive out, put antenna back on if you happen to notice static or lack of reception.

None of this affects myself because I am always streaming Pandora or Slacker Radio anyway.

Over the air radio is just slightly above the bull**** satellite reception.

One day 2000 years from now someone may dig up my truck and it needs to be fully OEM for value.
