I'm pretty sure it's Module Programming > Programmable Parameters > Tire and Axle Ratio.

It's hard to remember what the menu selections are called without it in front of you.

Yes please - if anyone has the step by step process to either reprogram an Ecoboost for larger tires, or change the gear ratio settings to accomodate for larger tires in IDS please post it for everyone to help eliminate the debate on the Ecoboosts. My ford dealer changes settings for larger tires all the time with the IDS (on a regular basis), however, after trying mine twice (with the Ecoboost), by dealer is saying that they can change the settings but then they keep defaulting back to what came from the factory. My dealer has tried to work with Ford and we are still trying to sort this out. However, there seems to be something unique about the Ecoboost over the other engines/computers???? My dealer has also talked with Hypertech who is saying they have a brand new programer so my dealer is ordering one of those up just to try it out? We'll see what happens at the end of the week.....

Again, if anyone has really got this issue resolved for an EcoBoost, please ask your dealers for the written steps so the rest of us can give the details to our dealers so we can resolve this topic once and for all for the EcoBoosts. Thanks in advance.....

I've never messed with an ecoboost honestly but I do hear their programming is quite a bit different than like the 5.0 or 6.2 and older vehicles.

pfbz;1143704; So after this new thread, we still have the same discrepancy as the old thread.

So I'll re-issue my earlier question/challenge:

Has anybody:
  • Purchased a 2011 F150. Yes!
  • Put on larger tires that have a non-OEM diameter (including stock Raptor diameter). I put on 305/55R20 MTs on 20x9 wheels
  • Had a dealer reprogram their truck for the new diameter tire. Yes, they charged me $50 to reprogram my PCM.
  • Verified the accuracy after reprogramming, not through belief that the service department knows what they are doing, but using a GPS or measured miles. There are various radar speed indicator signs around town and I am always comparing my speed to the readouts; dead on with the larger wheels and tires after the reprogramming.

Default Anyone?

Anyone fixed this yet?

Subscribed! Cause Eco don't like 35's. Don't wanna shift to 6th gear unless I get over 62 mph. That ain't safe. Also once you get it in 6th it'll hold the gear all the way down to 38 mph. but once it goes into a lower gear it will not go back to 6th until you get it over 62 mph again. This blows! Makes me miss the good ole days.

I just upgraded to 20" wheels and tires from the factory 18" that came on my XLT. I found a set of take-offs from a new FX2. I went from a 275/65/R18 to 275/55/R20. My speedo is still dead-on. I verified it with my GPS. According to tirerack.com, the difference in the overall diameter of the 2 tires is only 2/10ths of an inch. I don't see the need to recalibrate, nor pay the dealer.

Don't quote me on this, but I read somewhere that even the aftermarket units can mess with the ecoboost for tires.

There's not a good tune available for the ecoboost.

This is to the Ford techs that have been posting:
Since you know how to change the tire size with the IDS, can you post the tire sizes that are preloaded so other members will know if the tire size they plan on buying will be close enough to work correctly, or if maybe they should choose a slightly different size that can be more accuratly corrected.

I myself, run 305/65/18's, but I use SCT software and don't have this problem. But if I didn't, and I knew this was too far off of the closest preset sizes in the IDS, then maybe I would have chosen a 295 or 325 to make my speedo more accurate.
