Default Radio and sync issue

On my 2011 XLT i had the basic radio, the one with the small narrow display right where the dash and radio/hvac piece meet. It always displayed what artist/songs were on my cd's whether the cd's were store bought or burned cds that I made years ago, which surprised the hell outta me when i saw the names/songs. I also never had issues with my sync or the phone portion not displaying names.
My 2014 STX however does. It has the same radio/hvac setup and has sync. The radio, or I should say CD player never displays anything just the track # and length of song no matter what cd I have in, store bought or burned cd's. I have tried to see if something needed to be changed and nothing changes it. Now i've noticed that no matter who calls me or who I call, I get "restricted" or "unknown" to display on the screen where the the name should be. I've adjusted the settings in the menu to display name, i've re-downloaded my contacts several times and nothing helps.
This didn't happen in the beginning, only about a month ago for the phone issue, the radio is since day one.

Is there anyone else out there with these similar issues? Is this just a software issue or could it be the radio/computer whatever the hell controls this stuff issue?

Have you had the truck in for a sync update?

www.syncmyride.com is a site you can use to see if you need an update. Even if it says you are up to date, I would still call the dealership as the site is not alway correct.

Hi steve 392,

My name is Kim; nice to meet you! I'm dropping in to help Nick monitor this forum.

Tothemax had a great suggestion. Make sure your software is up to date by logging in at: www.Support.Ford.com

Since you mentioned that SYNC isn't working like it used to, I suggest performing a master reset. This will set everything back to the factory default settings and make sure things are running smoothly. Here are the instructions: http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...ter-reset-sync

Let us know what happens.

Kim

Performed a master reset, re-synced my galaxy s5, synced the phone book, contacts and whatever else you could and I still get "unknown" on the dash.

Do you have another phone that you can pair to your vehicle, to download the phonebook? I would like to know if it's a compatibility or radio issue.

Nick
