Quick wiring question for backup camera
Need some help.......Just ordered the
4.3 lcd tft monitor
Amazon.com: 4.3'' Color TFT Car Monitor Support 480 x 272 Resolution + Car/Automobile Rear-view System Mirror Display Monitor: Car Electronics
and the
license plate camera
Amazon.com: TaoTronics® TT-CC17 Waterproof Color CMOS Car License Plate Frame Mount Rear View Backup Camera with 8 IR LED Night Vision (170 Degree Viewing Angle / Distance Scale Line / Zinc Metal Casing / Black): Car Electronics
from Amazon.com.
Looks like they both come with RCA power and video ends on the cables.
I'm going to be cutting off the ends to wire into my reverse power under dash for the monitor and at taillight for the camera right?
Probably a stupid question but first time install for me and I am not sure.
Any tips on that part appreciated. Thanks!

So run power wire from camera to taillight or trailer pin and run monitor power wire all the way back there also! There are power wires for camera and monitor right! Sorry for dumb questions, like I said first timer. Thanks.

Floored, you have a couple of options. You will need to run an RCA cable from your camera to the monitor. At this point you could also run a power line along with it. When you hook into your trailer wiring harness for the camera power, I believe the middle wire. (brown/purple stripe) will give you power when its in reverse. White is the negative. Dont quote me on the wire color though. When you get into the cab simply connect your power to the wire you ran from the back. Connect the RCA. THen find a ground in the cab.
I just did mine last weekend. I thought i was going to be cool and do a wirelsess signal transmitter but it didnt work and had to run the RCA anyway. The one you ordered is probably going to be short. Also i couldnt find an easy way to get the rca into the cab of the truck. Had to cut it to get through the hole then soddered it to an extension so it would reach the the monitor.
