Questions about 2011 5.0 V8
I might be purchasing a used 2011 XLT 4X4 supercab tomorrow morning and I wanted to be prepared before signing anything. The truck has the 5.0 V8 and I know this was the first year for this newer motor.. Should I be concerned about that?
I've heard that some of the 5.0's have oil consumption issues? Is this true? How bad is it? How do I assess for that?
Anything else that I should be mindful of when looking at possibly purchasing this truck?
It has just over 35,000 miles on it, but looks new. It has SYNC, tow package, and most (if not all) of the available XLT bells and whistles.
They are asking $24k. I know what KBB says, but what do you guys think about that? I've never payed retail before, and I wonder what would be a realistic negotiated deal for this truck..

I just bought a 2011 with 80k miles. The guy that owned it before me originally bought it from the dealer i bought it from. They said it was only ever in the shop for regular maintenance. Ive put 500 miles on it so far, i checked the oil once and all looked good.

I have a 2012 fx4 5.0 that I bought almost exactly a year ago. It has 12,400 miles. Did first oil change at 6k and it wasn't down any more than half a quart. Went to Mobil 1. Just checked it last week and its barely off the full mark. Much less usage than any of my Triton motors I've had. As far as the truck, it has had zero issues and has never needed the dealer. It is the best truck I've had yet.
Good luck.

No issues with mine after 18 months and 13000 miles.
As far as price, how much is a similar optioned 2013? That's the best way to judge if a used price is worth it or not.
Normal price on a new xlt right now is between 7 and 10k under msrp depending on how expensive it is.
The used market here in MN is crazy, with prices being way high and it really not making any sense to buy a year or 2 old truck with a few miles.

I have over 40,000 miles on my 5.0 and have not had any problems! I also have larger aftermarket wheels and tires. My local Ford dealership ship they are not having any issues with them and it is hurting their business.

My 2011 5.0 has been perfect since brand new. I only have 20,000 km on it but that is turning 35s and operating in severe cold for a few months each year (-40 celcius). This motor is hands down the best motor that you can get in an F150, IMO.
