Default Question and observation...

This weekend will be my 1 yr anniversary with my first F150. To date I have been extremely pleased with the truck. Having owned 6 Chevys in the past I was unsure what to expect. Please keep in mind this is a city truck, no real towing/hauling to speak of. Just took a 300 mile round trip yesterday avg 18.1mpg cruising anywhere from 65-77. Have just under 12k miles on truck. Here are my thoughts:

Pros - huge amount of space in screw. 5.0 has all the power I need. Seats are comfortable. Back up camera is awesome - even small one I have in mirror. No idea what trailer sway, brake control or elocker are, but I have them all....so I got that going for me, which is nice. Great looking truck. Mirrors offer great blind spot viewing.

Cons - Sync is finicky. Ford service/warranty seems more difficult to deal with, but not a huge problem. Mirrors don't fold on my model. Tilt/trim on my model doesn't have much range of motion. Wish I had auto 4wd. Remote start is finicky as well. No dual climate control. Had to have daytime running lights turned on. Kind of silly of you ask me.

All in all I am thrilled with this truck. What is aggravating is how all the brands offer different creature comforts in competing models. For example, my '06 silverado had folding mirrors and dual climate, but my '11 didn't. I realize if I step up and pay more, I get more. Just need to evaluate what I can and cannot live without.

I'm sure I am missing some items, however I thought I would share my thoughts. By the way, thank you to those of you who helped me with remote start, daytime running lights and numerous other tips on operating and getting the most out of my truck.

Are DRLs required in your state, or is it just something you wanted?
I'm glad they aren't required here.

Nope, just something I wanted. I believe they offer a lot of safety, but that is just me.

I'm with you on the DRLs, NPC. I had mine turned on as well.
You mentioned that you had a question in your thread title but I didn't see it in your post.

More of generic statements about different openings on similar trim levels of competing brands. For example, a better tilt/trim would cost next to nothing, but Ford chose to use the very limited version I have in my XLT and brother in law has in his Lariat. I do think daytime rubbing lights should be the law though...

I have the factory HIDs and the signal lamps are used as the DRLs.

Yup, on the 13 with Halogen you can select either the headlamps or the signals, if you put retro fit or oem HID's with an adapter harness you really want the turn lamps set for dtrl because hids are not exactly cheap to replace.

13 as far as I know and probably 14 are the only years that you can change the programming but the truck must come from the factory with halogen for the option to be adjustable.
