Default Quality of lifts

I've read thread after thread about lifts. The brand's are countless.

As I plan on getting a BDS lift in the next month or so, I've heard about lifts that are "Crap".

What I'd like to know is what is the " crap"?

What makes certain lift brands crap?

The ride?
Does something break?
Is it only preference?
Brand loyalty?
Something else?

Having owned one of the "crap" brands (rough country) I couldn't help. I'm assuming it's people can't wrap their heads around the fact that sometimes cheaper price is just as good, though I did just read in a recent thread that there may have been a couple cases of bad welds. Oh and people also don't like that rough country rear lift requires stacking 2 blocks

Incorrect about the rear blocks. No stacking

Yeah it's usually complaints about poor craftsmanship. Most kits are designed roughly the same for these trucks, but the manufacturing difference is where price comes into play. It also depends on how hard you stress the components, because I'm sure any kit will do just fine spending it's life cruising back roads and the interstate. BDS is also a little more expensive because of their warranty. You break a part doing whatever and they'll give you a new one.

Yeah I forgot to mention the 4" in my first post, 6" has no stacking as you mentioned. Lots are almost identical and I remember emailing rough country and they would have charged me 200$ if I wanted to get the parts to convert to 6" later on down the road if I wanted.

Fwiw, I had 0 problems with my lift

Has anyone heard of any issues with Zone or BDS?

zone is part of BDS if I recall correctly, the difference here is the warranty police. BDS is "if it breaks we replace it no questions asked" and zone's isn't quite that standard. You can look into that.

From my research BDS is a high quality lift and makes your suspension as good if not better than stock. Pricey, obviously. But ease of mind with a good product. As long as installed correctly won't negate warranty from ford either.
