Proper tires
Putting new tires on my ecoboost on Friday. Can't believe Ford would give the payload and tow capacity of these trucks with a 4 ply passenger tire. I'm installing LT tires to help handling while pulling my camper.
Every tire is 2 or 3 ply. No such thing as different plies. I know a lot of people don't know this.
What tires you going with? I'm getting new tires a soon as I pick up my truck, not sure what I want. I don't trust the goodyears for snow and ice as I've had them before on an suv.

I was reffering to the oem goodyears. Duratrac are at the top of my list but I don't want E load range as my work truck had E tires and they were way too rough even for a 3/4 ton. Considering hankook dynapro ATM in 285/65/18.

I have max tow, my Scorpions are rated at 2150 each (4300 total). I'd run out of GAWR (4000 lbs) before maxing out my P rated tires. Not sure what your GAWR and/or tire ratings are, but I would bet you that your tires are rated HIGHER than the GAWR (rear)....
What's the door sticker say? What the sidewall of the tire say?
Factory tires are selected because of the weight to get maximum fuel mileage. They are usually paper thin and light so don't treat the stocker's too rough! I was getting too many flat's with the P rated tires and going to a LT tire cut down on the flat's.
Had 5 new Cooper discoverers installed yesterday. Found after install that the load rating on these 6 ply LT tires was less than the p series tire. (stamping on sidewalls). When asking the shop owner he was surprised too. He called Cooper tire and was told that "p" series are exact numbers load number where the Lt is rated different because they figure in another 250 lbs. Is placed in the bed making the load ratings markings less but is actually more. Make sense to anyone?
