Default Programmers?

Got a 2010 F150 XLT 5.4l 4x4 screw

Was wondering if it's worth getting a programmer for the 5.4l? Any suggestions on good programmers to go with? I don't see this discussed around here very often but figured i would ask.

I'm basically looking for better fuel mileage and the ability to move my shift points. Better HP and TQ would be a plus but not truly needed.

I got an SCT XCal for my 2010 FX4, with custom tunes from VMP. Honesty I can't really tell much of a difference in performance. Most of the tuners say that Ford didn't leave much on the table as far as performance for the 09's and 10's. That is probably why none of the tuners have dyno charts out. I was hoping changing shift points would help the 1-2 and 2-1 shifting. It didn't. I have actually returned the truck back to stock because I think it drives better.

SCT is the only tuner that I am aware of that does reprogram the tranny also.

On the other hand there are plenty of posts on here by people that are happy with the same.

I have the 4.6L and installed a superchips cortex, and LOVE it. It didnt give me crazy power gains or much better mileage, but it did improve the shift points to a very noticable margin. I would buy it again without hesitation!

PHP has dyno results out for the 09-10 and they show a 10hp increase using 87.

Problem is the edge/gryphon does not program the tranny. Plus the OP will be ready to trade his truck in by the time he gets a tune from them.

I have the 4.6 and use the SC Flashpaq 1865, which will also work with the 5.4. It gives me tunes for Performance, 87 Octange, towing and mileage. I have been very pleased. Would definetely do it again. For a few more bucks the same unit will also tune my 2004 Mustang 40th anniversary V6, now in performance tune it makes a HUGE difference.

Nope sorry, i gained maybe 1 mpg or 1.5 mpg at the most. But i also got my programmer for $250 so it was easier to buy than if it were $400...
