It seems that an overwhelming number of people are running an SCT x3 tuner with custom tunes from companies like 5 star tuning, MPT, etc and are having great experiences. Im gonna be going with 5 star or MPT really soon for my 2013 5.0

As the saying goes, "you pay to play." Some report that their local dealer doesn't care while others do. If in the event that your truck undergoes a colossal powertrain malfunction and something happens, you could be screwed out of your powertrain warranty if Ford wants to try and blame your tuner. Regardless of what people may tell you, Ford can see that you flashed you computer even after you set it back to stock. What Ford cannot see is what was actually done when the trucks PCM was flashed. On that note, I have done a lot of research and havent found a single problem caused by an SCT tuner or custom tunes from reputable companies such as 5 star, MPT, Livernois etc.

The reason I have not yet added a tuner to my truck is just in case of the rare event that my new truck is a Lemon. I want to make it to at least 10k miles on my truck before I pull the trigger on a tuner. I would hate for something to go wrong that was destined to go wrong regardless just to have Ford try and blame it on my tuner. I dunno, just how my brain works I guess.

My dealer told me this when I asked the same question about warranty and tuners...."I can't tell you that it necessarily will or will not void your warranty in the case of a powertrain issue, but a lot of our customers do it. I have yet to see any issues arise from a tuner though."

I would stay away from Bully Dog. There are several other people that have had problems with them. I had a bully dog triple dog gt on my 09 5.4, and other than recalibrating my speedo, I couldn't tell much if any difference in performance. Good luck

I purchased the SCT iTSX for my 2010 Platinum 4X4 5.4 and can say after just a few weeks with the 87 Tune (no custom tunes yet) runs very well. I have 275/65/20 Cooper A/T 3 with Bilsteins all around and the tuner has brought the truck back to its original running/mpg prior to tires/shocks performance. At this particular time the transmission shifting is far better than ever before. Franchi was a huge help in assisting me with my decision and couldn't be happier.
