Default procomp prorunners?

i got new prorunners at 4wheelers cause they were in stock and bilstiens were on back order i had a 2inch level spacer before with my 285 70 17 yokohamas on 17 methods so being a min of 2 inch of lift was a must. procomps ride ok on fwy street but hit a big pot hole or bump and they are stiff as heck and slam on bumps seems so stiff and seemed not valved right? anybody else have these? have same problem? i have a 2009 2wd extra cab 6.5 bed

I just put these same shocks in my 09 4x4. They are extremely stiff at first. But after a week of driving on them and running over a few speed bumps at speed, they feel great. They are more forgiving. And remember the warranty is 30 days no questions asked for ride quality. I almost swapped then out and then they suddenly felt like I wanted them to.

Had the prorunners on a 12 platinum eco. Was nice and level but ride was too stiff. Switched to bilsteins at top setting. Ride is better (still maybe a little too stiff) but a bit nose high now. Next stop changing setting to second from highest. A lot of people seem to like that setting.

Ok, I'm weighing back in on this thread. I drive 50 miles round trip every day over some crappy roads. Here is what I have noticed...

1. Bumps like speed bumps are best taken at speed. These shocks love fast and big hits.

2. Road construction on the highway SUCKS on these shocks because the "hits" are too shallow to compress the shocks so its like riding without suspension at all. Ugh. This scares me for gravel roads.

3. Love the height they lifted the truck too.

4. With the colder weather these shocks (the fronts mainly) are feeling even more unforgiving on small bumps.

5. When you do get the struts to compress they ride great EXCEPT they slam the front wheels back down on the ground on the rebound.

So I'm looking at swapping these out but I really am scared of the bilsteins breaking. Plus, I wonder how much more compliant they are compared to these procomps. Any ideas or thoughts?

Just called 4wheelparts and here are my options so far:

1. Stay with the procomps
2. Swap out for bilsteins 5100's (basically straight swap)
3. Swap out to rancho quick lift/9000's ($100 more per front strut!!)
4. Set procomps to stock and buy a block style level (more $$)

The pro comps have the 90 day ride guarantee so I'm going to drive on them until after the Christmas break. Maybe my road trip out of town will help break them in more. I doubt it.

Another thing of note, the manager from my local store (nice guy) said that if I'm not happy with the pro comps then I won't be happy with the 5100's because they (pro comp) "emulated" the same valving as the 5100's. FYI- the procomps are made by Monroe for pro comp.

Keep the reviews of the pro comps coming!

A good buddy of mine is a salesman at 4 Wheel Parts and recommended the pro runners. I know the 4WP guys get a higher commision on pro comp products, so I'm curious if he's pushing them to get the commision or if they are decent product.

Are they worth the extra money compared to the AS spacers?
