power fold mirrors warranty claim denied !!!
Good day members,
I'm have a F-150 Fx4 2014 and I absolutely love this machine however, like everybody else, some component breaks/stop working like they used to.
When I bought the truck, I decided to have the power fold, painted to match mirrors. Great decision until last week...the driver side mirror doesn't want to fold anymore. So I called the dealership and setup an appointment (truck still under warranty !!). They day after, at the dealership, the technician looked at it and 3 hours later, I received a call for the service advisor say that Ford Canada is declining the warranty repair because my mirror got a rock chip on it ! So I ****ing lost it (I wasn't mad at the tech or the advisor but mad at the situation !!). The dealership told me to call Ford Client Care to deal with this BS. I talked to someone than I talked to the supervisor and he told me that there's nothing they can do to overpower the decision of the warranty department.
I live in Alberta, Canada and during the winter, the city use rock and sand to cover the slippery road. So when I decided to buy a new truck, I went straight to a shop that I trust and pay over 500$ to have the complete front end of the vehicle wrapped with some 3M paint protection (headlight, hood, bumper, mirrors, etc...). If you take a look at the pictures, you'll see the rock chip. I haven't peel the 3M on the mirror but I'm 99% sure that the paint isn't damaged. Even though, is a rock chip is enough to ruin the motor inside the shell ?? NO IT'S NOT !!
When you paid 60k for something, you expect some durability....
Now let say my speakers stop working tomorrow, are they gonna decline that too just because I'm not listening some country music !!
I was considering buying the extended warranty but now.....what's the point !?!
What do you guy's think ?

How can they prove that a rock chip, lol, on the outside of the mirror caused the motor that folds the mirror in/out to stop working? Lol I call BS....Id go to arbitration. Note sure if that is a possibility in Canada, but my basis would be to ask for proof that the reason they denied my claim was due to this tiny rock chip.....

Warranties are a scam, as you're finding out. They have no problem taking your money but it's like pulling teeth when it comes to making a claim. You have to call Ford's warranty service and go ape **** or just get plain nasty with them. Manufacturers hope you will just pay when they say they won't cover it, so you have to fight for your money. Make sure you read the details of the warranty before pulling the trigger, so you know you're in the right.

grey goose....there's probably something similar to the arbitration board here in Canada but the problem is, I'm a military personnel and I'm going overseas in 10 days for 6 months so right now going to court is impossible for me

Nasty....the dealership told me that even if I peel the film off, they already have the pictures and they already have denied it twice so it won't help the situation !
