You know those mpg numbers are in the most ideal settings, with the lightest version of the truck, with the lowest gears

Your mpg is actually pretty decent considering the tires are heavier, takes a lot from the 3.7 to get them rolling!

It's a pain in the a*s, but you should give this a try.

-when you turn your truck on hit the setup button on the steering wheel until you see the trailer sway. Turn it off by hitting reset. Then press info again to return to your regular driving screen. I have an XL so your display may be different.

-I would also reset your MPG so it can take into account the changes you've made.

-It automatically gave me a 3-4MPG improvement. What makes this a pain is that you have to do this every time the key cycles in the ignition. Yes, that means every time you turn on the truck you have to do this. It's worth it IMO though.

I would also recommend only do this when you are not hauling a trailer of any sorts....for obvious reasons.

Hope this helps

Just curious as to why trailer sway has anything to do with MPGs?

I thought about this too, and my only conclusion is Jay is taking us for a ride to see how many of us will try this for 3-4 mpg gain....

My advice to OP, is to replace spark plugs and the air filter. It may not help much, but its worth trying. Honestly I have not heard the 3.7L getting any better MPG than either the 5.0 or the Eco. This is a 6,000 lbs truck that engine has to push down the road. Add in a slightly higher gear, or some aftermarket tires and I could easily believe that your MPG is in the mid teens.

My 2011 4x4 Eco was getting about 17-18 combined with a 3.55 gearing. Although setting the cruise at 70 I was able to get 20 on flat roads.

My 2014 4x4 5.0 with the 3.73 gearing is only getting about 16, but that is with winter fuel and a heavy foot. I hope to see it in the 17s again once they switch back to the summer blend and I get over the v8 fun factor.

Default Please help with my MPG!

3-4 mpg's improvement? Come on now! That would put my mpg's in the low 20's with my 4.6!

You can all take it for what it's worth. I'm not here to troll....just trying to help. It has worked for me. I was getting 14-15 before, now I'm getting 17-18.5 combined.

Here's a thread for anyone that needs validity..

That's pretty normal. I put toyo at2s on mine and went from getting 21ish to 16-17. Granted I did go with 35s, but the heavier tire and more aggressive tread pattern will lower you mpgs.

I have a 4.6 3v on Cooper 265/10/17's and am only getting 16.4 - 17.2 on average. The lower end is on winter blend fuel. When I got the truck I replaced as many fluids as I could with synthetic, put in new plugs and coil overs, new air filter, and run 89 octane no ethanol when possible and 17.4 is the best I get. I will have to try turning off the trailer sway too.

It sounds too simple, but look or change out your air filter.
My 5.0 went from 15/16 city to 13 mpg's around 18,000 miles.
Changed my insanely dirty filter and it jumped back up to 16 city mpg. Plus I got a little oomph back.
