Please help with my MPG!
Hello,
4 months ago I bough my 2014 xlt 2wd full size truck from a private dealership. He had bought the truck from an Enterprise auction and upped the price a little to make a quick sale. The truck was involved in an accident in the bed of the truck, but it was all repaired and the truck does have a green title.
I bought the truck with 27000 miles and the truck is rated for 17/23 mpg. As soon as i bought the truck, i put on new tires
17x8 rims with S13 6x135+ rims, the tires are the Toyo Open county A/T 2 265/70/17...only a little bigger than my previous.
I haul anything, and drive it EXTREMELY conservatively. Even when I drive and reset the MPG I never go over 18mpg, I average about 15/16 mpg. I run premium gas, and have a tonneu cover on my truck. Any ideas why my truck mpg are so awful? It runs very smooth and ive had zero problems minus the gas mileage. When i cruise at 60 mpg, thats when I average at 18, but even at 70-75 its only 15.
Any help would be awesome, thank you!

I take it your truck has the ecoboost engine? The MPG's you are getting is pretty normal. The toyos are a heavier tire, which also effects MPG's.
Another thing to consider is winter fuel right now, how you take off from stop lights. Try to use cruise control as much as possible.
All and all though the milage you're getting is pretty normal. A quick Google search and you'll see this To be true, it's pretty rare these engines get anywhere near 23 mpg

I've heard the same for others with 5.0's too. Try to use cruise control as much as possible.
Both engines get pretty near the same MPG's.
Are you running full synthetic oil? Some say that helps.
Not sure how long you've had the truck but winter blend fuel starts way before winter, started here late August
