Default Plasti Dip Question

Howdy,

I want to start blacking out parts and wanted to make sure this is the right product.

Amazon Amazon

Also, do I need the glossifier? How many cans do I need per bumper.

Thanks!

Right stuff, but you can get it at half that price at Home Depot. Get half a dozen cans to start. That's at least enough to do 5 coats on each I would imagine.

You can practice with it on something easy like the side view mirror reflectors, fuel door or other objects in your garage.

Most don't bother with the glossifier (myself included). I think it would closer match your grill if you didn't use it.

Hey check out dipyourcar.com and find them on youtube for some how to videos...BTW I'm not promoting their business, just that they offer a huge amount of information on plasti-dip.

I have been doing plasti dip for a while now - the glossifier will give you a more of a semi-gloss look, it will not be a full on gloss like your factory paint. If you do use plasti dip, please do yourself a favor and put at least 6 coats on it - you will thank yourself if and when you need to or want to peel it off.

Someone made the suggestion to try it out on something before you go all out - I would recommend that!

The gas door is best to test on. It is a good size. Just tape off a square a few inches outside of the circular door. Spray on 5 coats, rip off your tape and watch how the dip peels around the door edges.

+1 to the Dipyourcar site and videos. Great and easy stuff on there.

Read read read the directions I blacked out my emblems and I had to do this twice. But it turned out great. The best place is to get it is at Home Depot it is the cheapest that I have found and they have a lot of colors. But this summer I am going to color Match my emblems gun metal.

I did the same, blacked out my bumpers and emblems and grill with it, did prob 5 to 7 coats if I recall. And X2 on Home Depot, think it was like $6 a can or so and I bought 5 cans maybe? It's been a while since I've done it.
