Default Performance over Sound

Hello. I have be looking through forums and I know that this very well maybe a known answer. I have a 13 RCSB 5.0l and I was really interested in seeing any type of dynos when it comes to exhaust. I dont mind the quiet of the stock system, so before I throw something on thats obnoxious I would really like to know what if any gains there are in a catback or just a muffler replacement. I am well aware that headers will give a nice bump but that will be down the road I think. Any thoughts? Thanks.

If you don't mind the current tone. Go for headers over an exhaust if you're after performance.

Im fine with the price of a louder sound if there are numbers to back it up.

Well, there's not really numbers to backup a cat back. But you can definitely find numbers to back up headers....

Yeah thats what I have been having issues with. Im fine with spending money and having increased sound if it actually increases HP. I just want to make sure I would be getting a decent ROI.

If that's the case I'd do headers then weld in your muffler of choice... just one mans opinion.

catbacks never provides any real performance gains, just sound.

Only thing that could happen is the negative effects of reducing backpressure in that the exhaust velocity changes and lessens the cylinder scavenging effect. A lot of people, including myself, have noticed decreased throttle response after straight piping.

Headers also cost about double the price of a catback. :-/
