Default Payload Question

Okay here's my deal:

My truck per Ford specs is supposed to have 1700 lbs of payload ability. The tire sticker in my door jamb states my max payload should be 1496 pounds.

Is that b/c for the tire sticker they are including a full tank of gas? My manual states cargo is passengers and 'stuff in the back' given the picture and descriptions, it does not mention gas. My assumption here is the sticker on my car includes gas b/c otherwise it doesn't make sense.

Am I right?

sounds about right, gas weighs 6.01 lbs.x36 subtracted from 1700 is about 1484 lbs. they are giving you 12 more lbs. of payload free, if this is right. woohoo!!!! probably just rounded off the 1700.

What are the dangers and or side effects or long term symptoms of going over the payload?

Options also reduce payload. So adding steps, bed liners, sliding windows ect all add to the weight & reduce the payload.

So my sticker does include gas already in the truck? I've got 1496 pounds of people and stuff to play with?

Yes. Until you add a toolbox, mud flaps, bed liner or spray on, etc.
