Default Passenger side running board behaves erratically

I have a 2013 Platinum. when I open the rear passenger door, the running board deploys. When I close the door, the board does not retract. Same for the front passenger door. Drivers side works perfectly. while driving, the dash shows the passenger door is open even though it is closed. the passenger board deploys while driving. I dont know where to start looking for a solution. Can anyone help?

Welcome to the thread. Sounds like a faulty or failing door ajar switch or a damaged wire in the rubber boot between the door/cab of the truck.

Check the wiring between the door and cab, I bet you will find a few broken wires in that. Repair those/replace the harness and probably fixed.

Thanks for the tip. I was very anxious to take it to a local ford dealer since i live in the boondocks in Mississippi and they have limited resources. So I am anxious about what they may diagnose. What should the approximate cost be for the replacement? Thanks in advance for responding.

Thanks for the info. I'm not mechanically inclined so I guess that I'll go to my local dealer and show them reply. Maybe i shouldn't complain too much as i just passed 360,000 miles

They will probably want to replace the harness, as repairing it always ends up with repeat failures.
