Default Painted on Pinstripes

Hey guys. I have a 2013 STX with the Painted on pinstripes. I thought they were just the decal type that my 05 had but nope looks like they are painted on unfortunately. What would you recommend to get them off?

I had my truck buffed last year and they were able to buff them off.

I had the same goofy stripes. I had a body shop wet sand & Buff them off.

Lacquer thinner on a rag. Pin stripe paint is usually enamel. And will wash right off with lacquer thinner. The thinner won't hurt the clear. You will have to re-wax though

I have an aftermarket pinstripe job and would like to remove it, but was afraid to try laquer thinner. Acetone didn't touch it, nor did carb spray which is acetone plus toluene. I may go back and try laquer thinner in a door jamb to make sure it doesn't do anything ugly.

It won't damage cured clear used that way. I've been doing it for years. Only way lacquer thinner will hurt fully cured clear, is if you soak a rag, and leave it on the painted surface for awhile. Before clay was the big thing it is now, it was how I use to fully clean a vehicle before I would recon the paint. It's still how I remove pin stripes when I prep for paint. It's better than sanding in my opinion because you aren't sanding away the clear on either side of the stripe.

Just make sure the stripe wasn't cleared over. Some hack body shops will do that, so they don't have to repaint the stripe

Thanks. One of these days I'm going to go after those stripes, followed by a wax job.
P.S. Love your signature line about the Internet.

The painted stripes drove me crazy!!! I used this.....Painted on Pinstripes-photo708.jpg

Worked like a charm. Just did a small section on a time using a rag then following it up with a little wax. Took a little elbow grease but came off fairly easy

I saw a post where someone used a paste that was made for removing graffiti. They tried LT but it was too time consuming.
