Default Opinions needed please

I'm going to start modding my truck. I want to start with exterior mods. Thinking about painting my bumprs and grille surround. What do you guys think? I've always hated chrome but sterling grey + chrome seems to make a good combo, it's really growing on me. The reason I have the XLT is because the 3.7 wasn't available in FX4 and the STX didn't have the features I want.

My other option is to just paint the grille surround and leave the bumpers/inner part of the grille chrome.

Chrome bumpers don't take to paint very well.

huh? I don't get what you're saying and how it relates to my post.

I've had chrome painted before in the past, no issues. I have a buddy that runs a bodyshop and I already talked to him about painting these bumpers, he said it's not an issue

I'm not a big chrome guy either, I've managed to get rid of the little my FX4 had so I hear where you're coming from. However, it doesn't look bad at all on the grey.

If you think it's growing on you I'd give it some more time. Start with something that's not going to be such a huge change. Once you slap it on there, it might be a helluva time to get the chrome back (no idea what kind of process/prep is involved to paint chrome). Paint and tattoos... there's no 'undo' button haha.

Good lookin truck - your opinion is the only one that counts!

I'll be doing the same in the next couple of weeks. Waiting for my paintable surround and billet grille to arrive. Next will be either HD or blk projector lights. So far mods consist of 20x9 Incubus wheels, Cooper 275/55/20, Flowmaster muffler swap, window tint, leather seats, turboliner bedliner, JVC double din head unit, JL Audio speakers and 4 channel Amp, HD tails and center console. Took some pics today.

KBS - your truck looks *awesome* as is! The contrast between the chrome and the color makes it really pop.

Maybe some wheels/tires instead of painting everything?

Enjoy that good power and awesome mileage that the 3.7 gets!

And don't waste your time listening to dip*****s like:

t_b, thanks for the advice. I find the only people who knock the 3.7 have not driven one. I tow 5600 lbs with mine effortlessly and will be hauling for work as I work in construction. I get over 1000 kms to a tank of gas . The power is more than adequate.

I was thinking of wheels/tires, HD head lights and tails first to see how it all comes together before paint. I'm leaning towards fuel hostage wheels in 18, I figured they would look good with painted bumpers. I've seen the XLT custom package in person and I really like the look.

AppDawg, do you have a build thread? Looking forward to seeing your truck when it's painted.
