So I just picked up my 2012 f150 5.0 a few weeks ago. Unfortunately right now in driving about 1000 miles/wk my oil life is at 71% and I know it's preference but I'm firm believer in oil changes every 3mo/3000 miles. Do you guys wait for the maintenance minder to tell you that you need an oil change? Just looking for a few opinions!

Thanks for reading!

You'll get 100 different opinions on this, but I go by the maintenance reminder. There's no reason with the quality of "today's" oil, to change it every 3000 miles, unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket.

I change mine every 5,000 miles.

Mainly because that is when I rotate the Trail Graps, and the tire rotation is free with the Oil Change. LOL.

I am too old to haul them tires round.

mine is every 5-7000 miles. I have been considering trying 10K and checking the quailty of the oil.

3000-7500 miles just makes more money for the oil companies and places that change oil.

Hasn't been asked in a few hours...

Follow the guidelines in your manual, which tell you to let the vehicle tell you. Should be between 7,500 and 10,000.

The question I asked may have been asked 108847473939 times so I apologize for that I guess, I put a lot of miles on my truck so I was curious to see what if anyone did the same amount of driving and how they went about their maintenance. I probably wasn't too clear with what I was asking and again I apologize.

Thanks for the manual advice though I'll be sure to read it cover to cover.

It could depend on driving habits or weather conditions affecting the need to change oil sooner. If you constantly make short trips without warming engine totally the oil can retain "moisture". If it's dusty quite often oil durability will be affected. I let the reminder tell me, my conditions are normal.
