oil question
Just courious, why do you like RP.
As opposed to any other full synthetic.
To answer your question, I've never heard anything bad about RP. Just stick with the recommended weight and quantity.

Just run the Motorcraft 5w20 synthetic blend with motorcraft oil filters. It's cheaper. If you're doing extended oil change intervals I guess RP would be better than MC, but if you're just doing regular oil changes, the only problem with royal is thinning out your wallet.
I bought a 2002 Ford Explorer w/90k miles on it in 2005. I personally changed oil every 5k miles using cheap Walmart 10-30 and their filter.
Sold it at 190k miles, never used oil, ran great.
Can't say the same for the dang wheel bearing hubs.
Just FYI.

Wasn't going to run Royal Purple, but wondering this myself. Going to be changing the oil myself in my truck for the first time and wondering about what people use. Ran traditionally MotorCraft but thought about Mobil 1 or Valvoline

I run Royal Purple because it's a great oil and isn't much more expensive than any other name brand full synthetic. In total I've used for it for about 160K across a few vehicles, I've sent in oil samples for analysis, and I've been happy with the results.
On some of the older engines I've used it in where name brand synthetic blends burned off at a rate of one quart every thousand miles, switching to Royal Purple dropped the oil consumption down to a rate so low that the oil was still in the full range when checking after 6K.
Just keep in mind Royal Purple built its reputation off of what is now the HPS line, the API certified line has a cut-down additive package due to the requirements of the API certification and is not the same oil.
