Default Now What?

Ordered my 2012 Scab, eco, Lariat, from the dealer first week of January. I've owned 9 F150's over the years, all ordered, not something off the lot.
I checked with them last week to see if they could give me the Vin# as well as a ship date. They said it would be at the dealers SuperBowl Sunday. TODAY!!! The transport was just pulling away.
I went over to take a look, and yup, right colour! Lariat!, 4X4!, SCREW!!?
My name is tagged on the invoice stuck on the window.
Say it isn't so!!
Scurried home to check my Sales agreement, and they had it written down right, Scab, 145" wheelbase. SO, somebody screwed up. I will be waiting for the phone call tomorrow. I can see me waiting another six weeks!
Anybody else have a similar experience?
Was there any compensation/extras offered because of the error?

Take the Screw for the agreed price when you ordered....you would then be ahead!

I thought about going that direction.
Unfortunately I have nooo need of the large cab, and the short box doesn't like 10' sheets of drywall!

Is there a deposit involved?

Did you have a print out of the initial order? I got a full print out and looked at it every week checking all the details as I eagerly awaited my ecoboost.

Hard to believe the cab and bed came out wrong if you sat down with a competent salesperson to create an order. It helps if you find the option codes on the internet and feed them to the salesperson as they are building the rig.

My guess is that they may offer to knock off $100 or so to take the one with your name on it but they will have no problem selling it somebody else if you are not interested. Then you can start the ordering process all over again and this time look over the salesperson's shoulder and have your sheet of option codes handy. Make sure you get a print out.

Defeats the purpose of having a truck! People do use their truck beds for more than trunk space while going to the mall!

The original order sheet done by the salesman is correct. Same guy for my last three trucks, and he knows what he is doing. Somebody higher up in the chain f-up, I'd be willing to bet.
I'll ask to talk to the Regional Ford Rep, to see if he can expedite an order. Dearborn makes a 1000 trucks a day, so I'm sure it can handle one more in the next week.
Either that or see if they can find the colour with options in my area. It happens to be the most highly populated area of our province, so odds are there has to be something.
I hope.

I work construction and it is common practice to use trailers that's all. Less wear and tear on the bed of your truck from people reaching over the sides. Plus they are handy for the demo part of jobs.

So, after doing the order process to get EXACTLY what I want, I should now buy a freakin trailer (another $1500-$2000,plus license/insurance), to do what my F150 was designed to do, and what I paid for?
I hardly think so.
If I screw up at work, and the customer is not happy, I make it right. Doesn't matter what the personal cost is. If it takes a day or a week of my time, it was my fault so I will fix it.
That's why doing it right is JOB 1. Used to be Fords motto, if I remember.

Too bad you need it for work. I use my truck as a glorified sedan and it would be like hitting the lottery of they shipped a Screw instead of a Scab, assuming of course that I could get it for the agreed upon price.
