Is this normal in 4L
Just to follow up on this thread...
I got a chance to go off road again today. I spent more time in 4L this time, and my transmission IS shifting up through the gears...(good news)
I was a little put off as to why it's working now, but didn't SEEM to be working last week. After a few different tests, I've determined that the shift points are VERY sensitive to the amount of acceleration while in 4L. I believe that I was hammering the accelerator a bit too hard the first time, and coincidentally the shift point(s) was (were) never hit.
I can say that the response that I am getting out of 4L is quite a bit different from the old Silverado, but I'm glad to see that it actually works... The shifts are more prominent in 4L (i.e. you KNOW you're being shifted when it happens) - but this is nothing different than any other 4x4 that I've driven in 4L.
For the record -
I have never had intentions of driving fast in 4L... This only came about when I was testing the functionality of my new truck. I'm well aware of what 4L is intended for, and I have no desire to hit 6th gear while in 4L
(seeing it shift into 3rd is all the proof I need that it's shifting).
Now that I know everything is functioning properly, I can stop obsessing about something that well likely see very little use... Thanks for all input
