Mine shifts as expected in 4Lo. Much like my Sierra and every other automatic trans 4x4 I've ever driven.

I find mine shifts hard, but does shift through 3 of the 6. When it does shift though, you sure know it.

I should clarify- don't expect a fluid patterned shift. Expect a hard erratic shift depending on the imprint on your go peddle.

How fast were you going when you were expecting it to shift? It should shift into 2nd or 3rd below 10mph....

I always just use first if I use 4low.... there must be a reason to be in low gear and it doesn't make any sense to use 4low just to have the transmission shift to a higher gear and counteract it.

This is my first 4x4 and when I tried 4L in the yard I had to rev up fairly high before it would shift into 2nd. I've had it up to 3rd just driving around in my yard but as earlier mentioned, it will definitely let you know when it shifts! If you have it up to 5k rpms and it still hasn't shifted then something is wrong.

I don't think they will shift past third. I will do some searching but I was certain I had read somewhere that is by design to limit excessive speeds in 4l.

If you guys are in 4 lo and going through all your gears, you need to be in 4 hi! 4 lo is just that, 4WD LOW speed and lots of touque multiplication. That is why shifts are hard as you are essentially multiplying your touque through gear reduction.

Tested mine today, and it does shift through gears but remember it will be very low geared and high pm, mine shifted at around 30 and was a pronounced shift for 1st and remainder. Use the manual gear indicator to watch it shift then you will be able to see for sure

The only time I use 4low is crawling through deep snow pulling someone out. I don't think I have ever found a use other than that. 4 hi handles pretty much any other tasks I throw at it handily.

I use 4 low when backing my camper up to my house. My driveway has some slope to it and it's easier on drivetrain to drop in 4low than strain up a hill.
