Any one on here have a blender door go bad? I just called Ford and they said it would be $1500-1600. This is absurd! I'm really pissed off. My truck is a little over 4 years old with 34k miles on it. I think this unacceptable. I've told the dealer about the control **** making a funny noise and they said nothing was wrong. Now my heat doesn't work and the noise is gone from the ****.

 

It happens,stuff breaks, thats an automobile.

Happened in my 08 F-150 XL, which had the same style of electric motor controlled blend door. Happened right around the same mileage, maybe 35k, but fortunately I wasn't past the 36 month point, so mine was under warranty. At the time (late 2010?), I was told the replacement would've cost ~$1200. Major bummer man, really sucks that the warranty has expired. Keep in mind that the replacement cost is so high because the blend box is buried behind the middle of the dash, so I'm pretty sure the whole dash has to be pulled.

 

Do you have dual zone? If passenger side or single zone you can replace it yourself for about $20 and 2hrs of your time. If driver side dual zone you'll have to pull the seats and entire dash out.

Unfortunately Ford has been using the same crappy part for at least 10 years across multiple models including Lincoln. They know about it but won't make a permanent design fix. I'd be surprised if they fix this in 2015.

For one thing it makes service departments lots of money. They tend to go out just after warranty so no reason for Ford to care.

Definitely not Ford Tough. A cheap 5 cent plastic gear gives out. I literally never take mine off the coldest setting because (1) my AC is weak and (2) I live in FL. Yet it still failed.

I had to replace the blend and mode doors in my 2002 Grand Cherokee. it's one of those times that it definitely pays to be able to do things yourself, because in total I spent about $150 on parts and fluids but it would have been about 14 hours of labor for a shop to do it. I did it in about 8.

it's frustrating, but as they say, **** happens.

 

if you're going to call someone out on their intellect, you should probably at least use the proper "you're," just saying.

 

I just have the single climate control. I'm taking it to a friend of mine who has a shop to look at it on Monday so I'll give an update when I find something out. Ford told me it could be a $300 fix or up to $1500 depending on which blend door. I've done a lot to me truck on my own but not sure if I want to tackle this job since I'm not 100% sure what I'm getting into. I agree not Ford Tough! Thanks for the feedback
