It has worked for you? I have a good relationship with my dealer and went in to see if they had any CAI they didn't have to send back and they said they have to send each one back or they have to pay for them. I was going to see if I could get one and try exactly what you said! I don't want to try this on my OEM because even though they know there CAI is defective (or they wouldn't be replacing them) they would blame the issue on me and void the warranty!

isn't that what they are now doing with the new updated CAI? I thought I read that in the letter. I will be replacing it soon since I had to provide the TSB number to the dealer because mine didn't throw a code. Just another issue I have,, if the customer complains of a known issue then why put all these testing processes into the issue and just replace the parts?

I don't know, thought they were replacing the CAC with a new one that had a deflector of some type built in. Haven't heard of a petcock for draining.

Are we all becoming a society that excepts failure as a way of life? I mean my dollar spends like it did over 40 years ago compared to it's time,, Why is it that I have a deep freezer that is over 50 years old and still working in my basement and yet I just replaced my 8 year old side by side fridge??? We say we have came a long way as far as technology but at what cost?? If we put the same pride as they did in manufacturing products decades ago and the technology is so much better than why do they last a quarter at best of the time? We are getting told,,, hey that isn't a defect,, that is the way it is suppose to be and they all do it??? And we are just sitting there and taking it??? I know,,, I know,,, Hey mamonti,, if you want a product to work as promised (that you worked as hard as you did year ago to afford) ,, then I suggest you go back about 40 to 50 years and buy one!!!
What choices do we have as Truck owners..Ram (maybe),,Chevy (heck no),,Nissan (never),, Toyota (maybe)... If Ford was worried about its base they surely would have come up with a fix by now. We just sold our Honda minivan and wife wanted another vehicle,,when I realized how **** poor the CRV and RAV4 were in safety rating,, we opted to get a Subaru and I know she is in the most safest vehicle in its class. We hope we never have to find out but iihs.org says its the only one in its class that is 5 star. If you take away this CAC issue the F150 EB is still one nice truck (KR that is)..ALL these knuckleheads don't build them like they used to.

You are right! we live in a age where we have to pick the lessor of evils instead of having a tuff time deciding which to buy because they all have great products! But as for trucks......... to me...... there are only Fords!
I guess I remember them too being a stand in front of all others for many years but I also remember when there wasn't anything I couldn't fix years ago to... and granted,, I think the technology is one of the biggest issues to failure today although we all love the added benefit when they work!

If you have a problem with your truck will you take it to the dealer??? Why??? This doesn't seem to be a problem to you so why would anything else,, even a bad window switch?
I have no idea what you are trying to say.

Mamonti,

You want a little insider tip why nothing will get done? The EPA. Yes, that is right. The only thing the engine is doing is misfiring due to water intake of the CAC. The shudder/limp mode is a part of the Failure Mode and Effects Management(FMEM) system as you can read on page 12 of the letter. The FMEM cuts up to two injectors as is required by regulations to to protect the catalyst and meet emissions regulations. It is required to have this system. If you don't like it then vote the F'ing liberals out of office. Other then that, have fun trying to fight the EPA to get them to change requirements. Your best bet at this point is to drill the hole, but if you are waiting on Ford to do it then you will be waiting forever because they probably can't due to more EPA bull****. So, you have to ask yourself what your ultimate goal is here? Getting the problem fixed or sticking it to Ford who cannot take off the FMEM or drill the whole due to regulations?
