Yes you do. Because of the Firestone fiasco 20 years ago, government mandates all late middle cars and truck have TPMS sensors.

Every 08 and above is required by Fed law to have a TPMS system like stated above. if you have a Fault light on your cluster you either have a bad sensor or TPMS module. If you have just the TPMS symbol it’s a low tire.

Yeah fed law, the neighbor's fed law.
Canuckistan has its own ignition interlock law that we follow; even more useless and expensive.

The TPMS battery goes bad. I have a 2013 Explorer and the battery went bad. My Explorer showed TPMS light and the word Fault. I think if it is just TPMS warning light that would mean low tire pressure. If it shows the word Fault then the sensor is faulty, either battery or damaged. Mine was still under warranty so I got lucky. If not I think to replace it would have been around 100 bucks.
