Hello, I have a 2012 F150 5.0 and having an issue with low oil pressure warning light. The low oil pressure warning light came on and I immediately took it to the closest dealer. No engine noise present. The truck has 70k miles and no warranty. There is oil on the dip stick and the truck has been serviced at a dealer for routine maintainence. They told me the oil pressure sender was leaking and that would probably take care of the issue. Received a call today and the service advisor told me the low oil pressure light came back on. Tech installed a manual oil pressure gauge and cold is was 80 psi, dropped to 60psi after five mins and dropped to 15 psi at operating temp. Now they say the motor has to come out and disassembled to measure tolerances of engine components for further diagnosis and the service advisor said I might want to consider a new motor... I am looking for a little direction is possible. Thank you for your time.
Look into the cost for their diagnostic vs. the cost of a new motor vs. the cost of trading the truck for a similarly equipped ride.
I had the trans start to go on my 2011 at 110k, and I traded it in for a 2014 with 31k. At the end of my loan I will end up having paid around $2,000 more for the newer truck, instead of continuing to pay and repair my older truck.

Not trying to be smart a** but did you drive it or have it towed to dealer? even just a very short drive with no oil pressure is death to an engine. If the engine isn't knocking you might gamble a oil and filter change or even a new oil pump before writing it off.
