If you want the V8, look for a 2011+. Get the 5.0 Coyote. You shouldn't have an issue finding one for close to that same price as the 2010

Yup, I got my 2010 at CarMax and they were amazing with how they handled the torque converter issue and rebuilding my transmission. Not only that, but they put a 12K mile/12 month warranty on the work they did, too. I didn't purchase the MaxCare warranty (I prob should have), I only went with their default free 30-day warranty, but they didn't bat an eye paying thousands of dollars to repair my truck.

XLT, FX4 & Lariat are trim levels, FYI. The 6-speed transmission in the 09-14 trucks are very reliable and it would be the least of my concern especially with the truck having only 50,000 miles.

The biggest concern to me would be the 5.4.

I'm Ford blue for life, but I would not take a 5.4 even if you paid me.
It's not if it will have issues, but when.

Seriously, look for a 5.0 if you want a V8.

I agree, which is why I posted it earlier. I know Ford "supposedly" fixed the 4.6 and 5.4 issues but I will never trust them because of their reputation. Besides, I believe 5.0 is more powerful than the 5.4 anyways.

what is the problem with the 5.4? It seems every forum you go to everyone on each has a different opinion. I read one with everyone saying they have had no issues with the 2010 5.4

I won't be towing stuff. I just like trucks. I have no boats or trailers. I have motorcycles, but ride them where ever I'm taking them.

Saw a thread on this forum with quite the arguments going on whether the 5.4 is good or not. Seems it's almost a Ford vs Chevy thing where if you ask 10 people you will get people split down the middle over if it's a timebomb or strong & reliable

Ignore them. A well maintained 5.4 can and will go 200+ if you maintain it. As soon as you get your truck, change the oil with a good synthetic and Ford oil filter and do this every 4-5K. These engines are maintenance sensitive. I used 5W-30 instead of the recommended 5W-20 and owned trucks with this engine for 200-250k.

what about trans service & rear end service? Guy at work suggested I do those services as well since it’s at 50,009

For me it is just personal opinion. As I said, Ford supposedly fixed the 5.4 issues (back in 2007 I believe). I just personally wouldn't get one because of their reputation from the past regardless of fixes. 200k isn't a lot of miles, I wouldn't use that as your proof of reputation/longevity. My other view point on it is, why go with the old, when I can get the new. Ford switched to the 5.0 for a reason, why stick with the 5.4 "last weeks" news. lol. Once again, it's all personal preference. Get what YOU want.

well I bought it & also got a 4 year 48,000 mile warranty thrown in, yes thrown in, not paying for it, on the drive train. So Basically It should be covered for most part until it has just under 100,000.

As for buying the latest & greatest, I would if I could, but not an option. Around me I found now 5.0's for sale. All either 4.6 or 5.4. That said, I found plenty of complaints & videos on fixes for all engines & honestly on all vehicles. I can't afford a brand new truck, so I went with this one.

New tires put on in last November. Someone at some point in it's life paid for Auto Armor. Currently runs extremely well. No issues at idle. No issues going through gears. No chain thumping around.

So all I can do is maintain & see what happens.
