Default "The New Guy" question

Hello folks ...

I am looking at a 2011 F150 Ecoboost. It has 81k on the miles. Is there anything that I should be intent to checking out before I buy? Is there any reason(s) I should steer clear of this model? My only real concern is having to deal with turbo issues. Know that this is purely coming from a position that I know nothing about turbos. I believe I can get a good deal on it, probably at $19k. truck looks super clean and well taken care of.

Thanks for your help!

I have 85k on my '13 ecoboost, no issues so far. I plan to keep it to 200k or more. Good luck.

That is great news. Have you had it since it was new? Can you give me a little history? any nagging issues?

Just read up, lots of info here and this has been asked a bunch of times.

Ecoboost turbos are pretty reliable. Sure there are guys who have had them replaced but for the majority, they are solid.

The ecoboost motor can have shuddering issues. There is a huge thread on this in the engine section. Water builds up in the intercooler and gets sucked into the motor when people accelerate. You can have the latest TSB done and drill a small hole in the intercooler. Easy to do.

There is also updated spark plugs to install. Easy and cheap.

My 12 has 75k miles, had the CAC (intercooler replaced) at 13k miles. Been great since. I replaced the plugs myself, at 50k miles. New tires at 70k miles.

Everything else, just normal maintenance being only oil changes.
