Default New 2014s

Apologies if there is a thread on this topic already BUT....

How long do you think there will be some stock of 2014s? I am seeing some great deals and would love to take advantage of them but I close on a house in late February and can't touch my credit until then.

What do you think of my chances of getting a deal?
Thanks!

If you've already been approved for the house loan and have the interest rate locked in, why can you not touch your credit until then?

There still should be "some" 2014's around until the end of February, but not likely the color or option list you may really want.
Widen your search and being willing to travel to buy it may also improve your chances.

I think buying a vehicle before final signing of loan/escrow docs is risky, 'cus checks on any changes to FICO is essentially real-time for those in that biz. Congrats on buying that house - the new truck can wait. New toys tend to satisfy just a little while until the itch comes again, whereas purchase of a home is (or should be) the priority...

I factory ordered mine May and took delivery mid-July. Built to my unique specs but at a price premium compared to waiting for best FoMoCo incentive deals on (highest discount) XLT trucks. I did that knowingly but would not if I had a major real estate loan transaction pending...

There will be some around through march/April. But as time passes, fewer options to choose from. They are really discounting these and the new ones sticker way higher so you are looking at 10k less old for the same truck/options for the "old style". Very smart buy right now...

Most lenders will do a soft hit to your credit prior to closing.

My dealer has a ton of '14s on the lot still. I'd say you'll be ok.

My dear fellow Ag, you are smart to not take on any more significant loans until you close on your house. There will be 2014s around, and aftermarket mods can help you create your dream truck so don't worry about just the lot spec on the truck.

Awesome responses - thanks guys!

It makes sense that there will still be some available but specs / color may be limited. Do you think the "deals" will get better the longer it goes? Logic tells me yes but wondered if any of you had any specific experience of previous "transitions" between old and new-new ford models?

We had a nice 2012 Lariat with only 35,000 miles on it. However when we got to looking at the discounts offered on the 2014's -- especially compared to the price hikes on the 2015's -- we figured if we wanted a new truck any time in the next three years, now was the time to buy.
When we looked at two more years of depreciation, the huge discounts on the 2014's and the prices going up, we figured it would have cost us twice as much difference if we'd bought later.
If you like the styling of the 2014 (which I much prefer to the new ones), then you can make a great deal. And, congrats on the house purchase.

Congradulations on the house purchase, I was in the same boat as youas in May 2013 I found "the Truck" I wanted but was also in the process of buying my first house (i was 19) Truck was a 2009 5.4 XLT Scab Max Tow, The truck fell through as another purchaser beat me too it before the dealer opened. Got the House in May and had my Brand New 13 FX4 in the driveway in August. I didnt think the dealer woulod approve me with my mortage and being 19 but was approved in 5 minutes!! The deals will be there trust me!!!!

Awesome - thanks everyone. I will take care of my house business and then see what there is out there late February / beginning of March. Hoping for a Supercab 4x4 V8 either STX or XLT!
