Default needing camber kit for an alignment?

I have a lifetime alignment at one local shop. I had an appointment yesterday to get an alignment since it was pulling to the right. Last alignment done was about 2yrs ago. About 20mins later they come to tell me they have the specs within the yellow range but unable to get it perfect due to me needing camber adjusted kit which they sell for $180 (that's with labor). I failed to remember if the toe was off or what else on why it was pulling right. he tells me it will still veer off unless i get the camber kit installed. I only have a 1.5" level with Bilstein 5100's all around.

I didn't get a final spec sheet and should have because it still pulls right just as before.

I only had to pay the alignment service fee of $4. I want to go back today and tell them it's still off but i know they're going to blame it on me needing the camber kit.

The truck should track straight from the factory with factory OEM parts. If they can't get it to track straight, I would wonder what part is bent or broken that is causing it to do that. You're not really pushing the geometry of the front to some crazy height and many others don't have this issue running Bilsteins at the max setting. Sounds fishy to me.

same here. I wonder if the level kit was installed wrong and damaged a control arm or something

are you at firestone?
i'd pay for my lifetime alignment, and every time i went back they'd try to sell me a "required camber kit"
every time i said no, there is OEM adjustment, (not as quick and easy as a camber kit)
they go back and sure enough its adjusted

sometimes you just have to kick em in the pants

but all that was on my vw's

i havnt had to do an alignment yet on my f150, so im assuming its adjustable

Doing an alignment without the camber kit is possible but will require 2 mechanics to do it. Having the kit makes it easy for one to handle it. I would put them in myself since the trucks don't come with them but my lift kit came with them so I didn't have to buy them extra.

Pic of what they look like installed. Mine are on the lift crossmembers so if not lifted they install them on the oem cross member, notice the eccentric? That's what makes it possible for one person to adjust them.

All the years I did alignments if a customer refused the kits, we would suggest taking it to a local tire shop. It's way too difficult to do the alignment without them and most definitely not worth our time to fight with it.

I installed the Moog camber kit linked above with new UCA’s and LCA’s and before I got my truck aligned. Something wasn’t right with them and my truck squealed like a pig when I turned the steering wheel all the way to the left or right.

The tab that went in the cross member hole hit the control arm bushing. Plus the outside alignment tabs bent.

Took them off and re-installed the factory bolts with a new alignment. No more squealing.

Maybe the other Moog camber/castor kits would work better. See the link below.

Just my $.02

Yeah those would be much better, the other kit linked is the cheapest one they sell. Under made.

Perfect timing for this. I just bought a used set of FX2 20" rims to install on my 2011 FX2 Screw. Last alignment I had done the tech said he got the camber "close". RockAuto has the MOOG kit for $27.89 ($37.24 CDN). Used the discount code for another 5% off. Did some more searching and I need 2 kits. Cancelled 1st order and will reorder when cancellation comes through.

https://www.rockauto.com/en/partsear...artnum=K100070

Update: 1st order cancelled by RockAuto. Reordered 2 kits.
