Default Need opinions

Current truck 2011 screw platinum eco, 30k miles. Warranty ends this month.

Going to start being my dd, 50 miles rt to work.

Pirellis are tired, need replaced.

Additional extended warranty quote (through Ford) is $1700 for 3yrs 30k miles.

Guessing the trade in value is about 34k (truck is mint)

My driving is 100% on road, use the bed for home depot, hauling the kids crap around

Have a hell bent 2" leveling kit (blocks and spacers) still in the box in the garage

---- So here is the question.

option 1 - Install the leveling kit, buy 275R65/20's $1500 (for 5 installed), get it aligned and drive it. (maybe buy the extended warranty?)
- or maybe buy a boss kit and lift it properly (with upper arms about $2500, sell the leveling kit)

option 2 - Trade it in on a new one. The dealer has 2014 equipped exactly like mine advertised for $43K plus some taxes, real price is probably close to $40K.

option 3 - Buy new stock size tires, and just keep driving it.

option 4 - Sell it and buy a Prius - ok this is really not an option.

option 5 - Wait till the Platinum 2015's show up and trade in the summer/fall.

Is there anything you dont like about the truck or an option you would really like to have? Do you mind having a truck payment for another 3ish years longer?

I would say if you like the truck and are perfectly happy then keep it and make the upgrades you want. If there are some options you would really like to have then trade up. Personally i would not get a 15. Id wait a year or so to let them make sure all the bugs are worked out.

This truck has been perfect, one little hick up when it was a couple of months old with the humid eco boost issue, but otherwise perfect. I would be paying cash for the difference, so no payment. Love the truck, options, etc.

Kind of leaning towards keeping it, modifying and rolling the dice with the warranty.

Seems like for me the coil overs would be a waste, since 100% is on road. A couple of posts have said the coil over kits improve the on road manners some (firmer more planted ride).

Option 3

Why would you trade your truck with low miles and probably paid off (or nearly) just to get into another payment. Keep what you have and if you want piece of mind get an extended warranty.

Also, and this is just my opinion based on my own experience. For a daily driver stock height and tires are best! I had lifted trucks and bigger tires before, they never ride as good and the bigger tires will increase you stopping distance. Is a lot like having a loud exhaust.......sounds good until you drive some distance on the freeway. I must be getting old.

Option 1, and no warranty. Save the $1700 in case of needed repairs. More than likely you won't need it.

Option 1, with the BOSS, and push the warranty out a few years as the cost increase is really negligible. The BOSS frickin rock....love mine.

I have the boss and 275/65/20 toyos. Trying to budget a UCA. Driving 50miles/day i dont know u want my mpg. 3mpg loss adds up fast. Im on a 93tune and like the power when i need it tho. Might wanna just do your level and go up 1" to a 275/60/20 in a C or D Load tire to keep the weight down and better mpg? As for the warranty, shop around. I've seen forum posts about paying WAY LESS for a 6/100over the Internet to certain dealerships. Like in the $1100-1400 range. My 5-75 was $1500when i bought my truck new in march at the dealership.

All good points ..... getting about 17.5 mpg consistently now, losing 3 mpg would hurt some, but not much as gas prices are way down here. Know that won't last long.

Really like the stance of the 34" tire and 2" leveling kit, wish there wasn't such a mileage penalty.

For 13k miles/year (250/wk) at $2.55/gal the $$ mileage penalty from 17.5 to 14.5 is about $500/yr. I guess about $10 bucks a week? Two venti's?

Worth it to me I guess.

Love the Toyo's, had them before on my Jeep. They are really heavy.

Can not find ANY 34" tires in a 20" rim that are not E rated. I did have some Goodyear Kevlar 37x13.5 on my JK that were not E rated and were a bunch lighter. Those were a mud terrain but this time I'm looking for an AT or even a taller highway tire.

Any suggestions?
