Default Need help with Nittos

Members,

I have been reading all the posts and researching everthing to do with 295/70R/18 Nitto Trail grappler MT's. I DO NOT WANT RUBBING issues.

I have a 2009 F150 XLT 4x4 and am putting a 2.5" leveling kit in the front, potentially with a 2" level in the back(haven't decided yet).

I am buying Fuel Hostage (black and machined) 18x9(6x135) with a 14mm offset, Backspacing is 5.5" and would really like to put the 295 Nitto trail grapplers on but like i said i DO NOT want to mess around with rubbing issues. I read some have rubbing issues and some don't. I know my safest bet will be to go with the 285/65R/18 because the 275/70R/18 wont fit on the 9" wide Hostage rim. Nitto reccomends a 7.0-(8.0)-8.5 rim width with the 275's.

Will my 2.5" level and 14 mm offset work so that i dont have rubbing issues?

All of your experiences, thoughts concerns are very welcome.

Thanks !!!!

I can tell you that the tire size WILL NOT rub with the leveling kit. Your issue is going to be with the wheel. I dont have any experience with that size so I cant comment.

I did a lot of searching on tires sizes before I went and picked mine up and from what I hear is that the 295/70/18 will rub with a billstein 2.25 adjustment in the front when the wheel is cranked especially over speed bumps and down driveways and such. I have the 3.73 gearing and didnt want to go that big without regearing anyway so I just went with the 295/70/17 with no rubbing but looks close when cranked I have +18 offset. I think with 2.5 lift in the front you will be close and the worst might be that you do some shaving.

These are 295/70R18 Nitto tires on Vtech raptor wheels I do not have rubbing issues however if I hit a large bump while turning I have rubbing issues but only slightly. It rubs inside the fender well. These are 18 inch wheels with an offset that discount tire said I only had two options in these wheels. I do not remember the offset but can find out if you really need to know....

hmmm, heres a new part to the question, one that i didnt know....will a 14mm offset stick out further than a 20mm offset? becuase i can get these rims in either offset....i just figured 14 mm didnt stick out as much. Man wheels and tires can get confusing...........

Yes. The higher the positive number the less it will stick out.
