Yes you can request the bigger one, but call ahead to make sure they have it. I had to go to two different stores to find one.

Thanks, I've been toying with the idea of all 4 at once, or just get hte rears now and somehow wait a long time for the fronts, based purely on the springs. However, i might still have to get a shop to do the fronts, based purely on my shocks being attached with a single monolithic bolt at 420 ft/lb

Now’s the perfect time to buy that big torque wrench instead of paying the stealership. It’s a win win!

Haha, i don't think i'll get/have anything capable to that, as it'll require me to be up to it as well Certainly won't be a stealership once it's done though.

It does of course require me to be able to get it back to that tightness....

I just bought pre-assembled 6112s. Skipped compression issues. Used an appropriate impact to get 400+ lbft.

That i'm sure is VERY nice, but not $800 nice to me. It'll just be the damper upgrade for me once i'm ready, just have to suck it up for the install.

Oh, I see I was thinking the OP mentioned 6112s, but it was someone else. The idea can work for many shocks, though.

I'm planning on doing the front struts in the spring and replacing the other upper control arm as it's already apart. That lower strut nut has me intimidated as well. My wife will soon get this link for a torque multiplier when she asks what I want for xmas.

Amazon Amazon

this one comes with the 27 and 30mm sockets as well. The idea of getting at least 400-500+ ft/lbs of torque when only applying less than 100ft/lbs myself sounds great. I'm pretty sure I can fit a jack stand close enough to hold the rotating/brace arm. I have a Chicago Pneumatic cordless impact gun rated apparently for 775ft/lbs, but in the real world I've found it's about 250ft/lbs max. It zipped off the front caliper bolts (184 ft/lbs) easily but failed when I had stuck lug nuts.

Default Bottom strut bolt

Bottom strut bolt torque discussion got me wondering if that might be an installation obstacle for me next week. So I checked today to see if I could get them loosened.

First attempt to loosen the nut with a 30mm flank drive socket failed. That socket is too shallow to fit well.

Next tried a 1-1/16” wrench on the bolt head. With a 2nd wrench for leverage the bolts on both sides loosened/tightened easily. Keep in mind this is a rust free truck.

Now see, i have a long breaker bar, so other than the 30mm socket, which, i've have to check if i had, i could easily repro that setup in your pic but with an actual bar instead.
