I got the cheapest set from either autozone or Oriellys. It’s essentially a large screw with two modified nuts to grip the coil. Worked like a charm. Wouldn’t use it on a painted coil because it will for sure scratch it up.
I used the cheap harbor freight one lmao they worked to compress both springs on some bilstien 6112’s looked a bit sketch but worked tossed em once I finished though widest trust em they were a bit bent
I prefer this style of spring compressor, mine is from Baum Tools and costs roughly $500, but there are plenty of cheaper ones made by other companies such as this one sold by Eastwood. Mine never slips, bends, or does anything else to make you wonder if what you're doing is a good idea.
Those threaded rods with hooks on either end are scary. I’m going to get a spring compressor like SALEEN961 linked to above. Thank you all for responding.
I used this one from Autozone (rented) and worked better than the small screw type like above. You will need a compressor and impact gun. If you go this route keep in mind it is a reverse thread, impact in reverse to compress the spring.
I was going to ask if those who used the rented autozone ones had luck with this, being longer and stronger springs than a car. I don't remember now, but do you have a choice on the type you rent from autozone?
