My OEM camera problems and solution
This is an FYI for those that are having backup camera issues.

My camera started going out. My symptoms occurred off and on and sometimes at once. It was almost as if I had a ground wire that was loose. I eliminated a ground problem because the symptoms kept changing. They were are follows.
My solution was to purchase a replacement camera from camera source. The camera I purchased was this camera. I choose the emblem since I wasn't sure how it comes off. Mine just popped off and was reusable. I still replaced it with the new one. Most of the wiring for the camera was replaced with the wiring that came with the replacement and was easy to accomplish. About 3 feet of the OEM camera cable was removed. The replacement camera cable plugged into the harness behind the rear bumper and the excess camera wire was zip tied (lots of zip ties were supplied with the replacement camera). The OEM camera housing was large compared to the replacement camera. It took about 15 minutes for the entire project from start to finish.
My backup camera is now clearer and works great! I have the same lines that the OEM camera had.

- blurry lines like WiFi interference
- black and white image
- reverse image on the camera

My 2013 in 2017 started getting blurred lines and it was the connecting wire in the tail gate. Sometime the screen was black and no image at all. You could open and shut or jiggle the wire in the tailgate and it would work. Looked to me the way they had the wires running through the tail gate were not protected very well.
Like others I have had issues with my backup camera. It seems to work the first time I start my 2014 F150 but-then is unavailable the second or third time I try to use it. If I turn off the truck and start after 10 or 15 minutes it tend to work again for the first time but fails again later.
