Default Another fuse 27 thread

Went to go out the other day and truck wouldn't start.
Crank, but no fire.
Sure enough fuse 27 is cooked.
174443 on the clock.

I bought the relocation kit 6 years ago when I first got the truck, but I never installed it.
Fuse looked good back then, and I had intended to do the mod, but it just got back burnered and forgotten.
At the time, I figured that if it hadn't burnt up in 60 or 70 thousand miles, it was gonna be ok.
Wrong.

The job only took about an hour or so, including the time I needed to splice the other 3 wires I caught in the cutters while snipping the correct one.
Suggestion: Don't do this job after working a 10 hour shift.
I was trying to get it done before the storm blows in.
I pulled the fuse when it crapped out and turned it around, and she fired right up, but I knew I was living on borrowed time, so I had to get it done today.

Make sure you clip the correct wire.
There are 2 blue/red wires in the same area, you want the heavier one.
Pull the fuse, and stick a zip tie through the hole in the #27 well to help you find the right wire.

Yup, no one likes to do this fix because "it's working, why bother, the fuse is ok, i'll just replace the fuse"

Good deal getting it done finally, life makes a mess to deal with sometimes - for anyone else, this isn't a fuse issue, and it *is* a ticking time bomb, have fun getting stranded out on the road when it finally happens.

I just relocated mine today. After I got the part from Ford I opened it up and the instructions were pretty good. Took me about 15 minutes to fix.
